My Drum Goal
I am preparing this information for the person who in training me to play the drums. If I were to play the drums as a performance, I would not want it to be longer than 30 minutes. I would also not want it to sound like I'm a professional drummer, but the performance should be good enough to be entertaining. I searched for the following information on the Internet in regard to how many songs for a gig: How long is your slot? My goal is not to be a professional drummer or to be in a band and be hired for any gigs. This is because I have my own show, called Jazz-Act with Ms. Jean. My plan is to have my own show band. However, I will have an extra set of drums that I use for a song or two during the one-hour show, if planned. I don't have much time to practice, perfection is not my goal, and doing it over and over again to be exactly learning a song, any song is not what I would consider good training for me. I don't want to spend time learning music theory during my 30 minute lesson. This is something I can read at home, not take 5 or 10 minutes of my drumming time. I am not taking a music theory course. I don't mind learning or reviewing what I already know, but not while drumming. I don't want the lesson to be more than 30 minutes. I want to work on three songs each time, 10 minutes per song, whether or not it is exactly right for each song. If you keep my skill level at beginner until "I feel" that my mind and my body is ready to go to intermediate, we will have a long, happy and fruitful drumming relationship. |
